    Joel Veitch MA is an animator, commercials director and singer / songwriter. He is the creator of the cult website RATHERGOOD.COM which he began in 2000. Since then its unique menagerie of animals and songs - particularly his singing kittens and moon-obsessed Spongmonkeys - have developed a worldwide cult following. He is also lead singer of the band 7 Seconds Of Love.

    VH1 40 Greatest Ever Internet Superstars - The Spongmonkeys featured as one of the internet's greatest ever superstars.

    Joel is the regular inernet expert presenter on Nuts TV, and a regular guest on Sky News discussing the top stories on the internet.

    Joel was a judge for the D&AD Global Awards, in the virals category. Hosted the Virals insight session.

    Institute of Contemporary Arts - talked as part of the Webbies event, on the Democratisation of Advertising, also talked at The Club, and at Pecha Kucha.

    Released the album Rather Good Songs as rathergood.com, also the EP Supercool Winkytool as Tygorz and the singles Ninja and Twister as 7 Seconds Of Love.

    Playstation - agency: Stream - made an animated short based on the short story "A New Face In Hell" by Jeff VanderMeer for the Manchester International Festival

    Comedy Box - 5 animated sketches.

    Encounters Short Film Festival - gave a talk as part of panel event on "Contentertainment"

    London Metropolitan University - guest lecture to MA students.

    Save The Internet - kittens and spongmonkeys featured in the video for this net neutrality campaign.

    NINTENDO – 8 Sponsorship idents played during Takeshi's Castle. UK (Leo Burnett)

    PRINCE'S TRUST - 4 spots to promote Prince Charles's youth charity. UK.

    QUIZNOS SUBS – 3 x 30 sec broadcast ads, US, Canada and Mexico and radio and web spots. These sandwich commercials which use the singing “Spongmonkeys” became a big cult hit in the States. (The Martin Agency)

    SWITCH/MAESTRO – 3 x 30 sec ads, 3 x 10 cut down. TV broadcast and posters. Won a Creative Circle award for best use of music. UK. (CDP Travisully)

    Joel worked with Monkey Productions to create late night Channel 4 music video show “Rathergood Videos”. A mix of irreverent animation and music videos. 16 x 15 minutes. UK.

    CRUSHA MILKSHAKE – 30 sec ad plus 20 sec cut-down. UK and Ireland (WTCS)

    VH1 - 9 x 30 sec channel idents featuring singing kittens. US / UK.

    Joel was named as one of Creative Review Magazine’s “Creative Futures” highlighting the best British up and coming creatives. He created a gallery installation and window in Selfridges store in London as part of the exhibition.

    Won a prestigious Webby Award from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

    Appeared on E4’s “What Sadie Did Next” and designed 2 short animations for Channel 4’s “Gash”

    2002 – 2003:

    “Born Sloppy” – Joel provided trailers, animated gags and singing kitten bands for the series, a Friday night music show on Channel 4, UK.

    In 2002 the website was included in the Yahoo! top ten websites of the year.

    Designed titles for E4’s “Fanorama”

    Joel has been a judge for the British Interactive Media Association Awards. He has also been closely involved with the b3ta.com creative community since its inception.
